Five-finger family set

A matched set of five puppets sized to fit each finger of one hand at once.

Advanced · 3 hrs

A matched set of five puppets sized to fit each finger of one hand at once.

What you'll need

  • 5 sheets felt in coordinating colours
  • Fabric glue and needle/thread
  • Assorted small eyes and trims
  • Pattern paper for consistent sizing

Fits

A full hand — designed so all five puppets can perform together.

Steps

  1. Draft one base template and scale it slightly for each of the five fingers.
  2. Cut and assemble each puppet body first, before adding any individual details.
  3. Give each puppet one small distinguishing feature (a hat, a scarf, a different ear shape).
  4. Attach faces last, so you can balance expressions across the whole set.
  5. Test all five on one hand together and adjust any puppet that fits too loosely.
  6. Store the set together in a small labelled pouch so the family stays intact.
